spring fever
Do you feel spring trying to make its way into our days? Being in So Cal there has definitely been some recent days where it felt like spring.
Every year around this time I order my bare root roses from @david_austin_roses, bulbs and take a general inventory of what my garden needs.
My inspiration this year is this beautiful serene scene by Brooke Giannetti over at @velvetandlinen. She and her husband Steve have created a beautiful family farm in Ojai in the foothills inland from my home. My hubby gifted me their latest book @Patinafarm that her and her husband wrote. It’s filled with so much inspiration!
I’ve always wanted to try and create an espalier and last weekend on my run to the nursery I spotted the perfect dwarf honey crisp apple tree. Wouldn’t it look amazing in one of these pots? I contacted Brooke and she was kind enough to give me her source. As soon as it arrives and I’ve transferred my espalier I’ll show you! Can’t wait!

So much inspiration for our journey!

When I look at this dreamy white farmhouse i can’t help it. It warms my heart knowing that soon hubby & I will be starting on our journey to building our own farmhouse and this is one I’m taking so much inspiration from. I love the classic style, all white exterior, the black front door and the raised front porch. So so much to swoon over. Am I right?
I’ve started a list of my wishes and I’m telling you this pretty sight has a lot on that list!
We are still looking at parcels of land via @homesnap and hubby sent me one today that was nine acres. It’s so hard to be looking living so far away but with the internet and the help of a realtor @girlsellsnash it’ll have to do until our next trip out to Tennessee. .

•Homemade Peppermint Bark•

Is there anything better than @Williamssonoma peppermint bark for Christmas? It’s my favorite guilty pleasure. Well, now you can make it yourself with my easy recipe!
Normally I wouldn’t go for bittersweet chocolate but it’s scrumptious when combined with the sweet white chocolate, candy cane crunch and my secret ingredient (which I think completely elevates this bark). One of my very favorite activities with my kids, nieces & nephews is to bake sugar cookies for Christmas. Nothing signals more the start of winter break than the homey smell of vanilla baking. I literally can smell it as I write this post!
I have a go-to super easy cut-out sugar cookie recipe that I’ll be posting on the blog soon that I think you’re going to love. No refrigeration required! I got it from a cookie blogger I follow and love @sweetsugarbelle
The kids love to do the Santa hats and gloves but my favorite is the beautiful all white snowflakes. So dreamy! It’s almost winter break. Time to get my baking supplies in order!

Good morning friends. Isn’t this scene of White’s Mercantile just dreamy?
Being in a small town during the holiday season just warms my heart. On our trip we met so many residents of Franklin that had stories similar to ours. They encouraged us that although it is a big change, there is nothing like living in a small town. Their warmth and sincere conversations we had filled me with assurance that we’re not crazy in our dreams! I won’t lie, I go through waves thinking oh my gosh what am I thinking? Then God puts in my path these beautiful souls to calm my heart and reassure me that I’m listening to him and his plan for our lives. .
